| Ministry Moment |
Our students are coming up with very preachable sermon titles! We are 4 weeks in to Bootcamp, which is our high commitment intensive 6 week Bible study for students. We're teaching them Bible Study Methods (Observation, Interpretation, Application)...and they are getting it! It is so awesome to have the privilege of teaching students how to study their Bibles for themselves and to be seeing real fruit!
Last week we were in Nehemiah 2 talking about |
how it broke Nehemiah's heart to hear that things were going badly back home and that the walls of Jerusalem were burned down and in disrepair and God's reputation was being attacked. Nehemiah prayed immediately and repeatedly. After 4 whole months of praying Nehemiah finally went to the king and asked if he could return home to do something about it.
We encourage the students to first look for repetition, comparisons, contrasts, cause and effects, etc. (Observation). |
Then we tell them to look for timeless truths they can pull out of those observations (Interpretation). For Nehemiah 2, they came up with phrases like, "Prayer should be our first resort, not our last," and "Sometimes God doesn't answer as quickly as we'd like," and "Prayer is the source of our strength." What beautiful truths from the mouths of students whom God spoke to from their own personal study of the Scriptures. Praise God!

| Ministry Update |
In September we launched a new vision for DBSM. “To be a ministry of Students” with the mission of equipping those students to work in ministry. I’ve been heading up specific ministry teams that the students can sign up to be a part of. It has been amazing to see God work in these kids lives and see their desire to serve.

I’m tag-teaming a new Bible study for the students who want to dig a little deeper. It’s an intense 6 week study that focuses on teaching students how to study Scripture on their own, and challenge their daily walk with God. We have about 25 students meeting with us at “Bootcamp”.

My personal favorite thing from this semester was the Baptism service. We had 35 students and leaders publicly profess their faith with Baptism. I was asked to baptize 5 of the students. What a privilege!! We served dinner for the families afterwards, and it was such a great example of how to celebrate the testimonies of our students!

| Personal Update |
Well, as expected, this semester has proven to be a great challenge. We are adjusting though, and eagerly working toward my graduation in May!
We are still leading a Bible study for leaders that meets twice a month at our home. It’s the part of ministry that I get to do side by side with Kristin, which we both just love. Kristin loves being the hostess and cooking, and she actually can enjoy it, since the boys are already in bed.
We had a ton of fun around halloween, hitting a few |
different carnivals and parties. The boys love to dress up, and have a plethora to choose from (thanks to my frugal wife who hit the clearance rack after last halloween).
Tysen is potty trained! That may not mean much to some of you, but if you have young kids, you know this is major! He is much younger than when we trained the other two, but he was ready! And, let’s be honest, no one misses diapers! |
Logan and Ian are both thriving in school. We have truly been blessed with amazing teachers. They love going to school!
The next phase of our life is slowly creeping up on us! 6 ½ months until graduation!! We covet your prayers for our family as we begin praying about our future. That God would open our eyes to His will, and we would rely completely on His guidance. |
