| Ministry Update |
I told a friend, “It feels like I’m living a dream!” Holding back a smile, he asked, “So, like…you look down and realize you don’t have any pants on and you can’t run very fast?”
Though I’m not living that kind of a dream, where God has me right now and what He is doing through my life and ministry is too good to be true! I love what I’m doing: pouring into leaders, pouring into students, and teaching the Word—I’m living a dream! |
God is so good! At our staff retreat before the semester was underway, we had only 3 committed volunteer leaders for over a hundred junior high students. We prayed and God came through. We now have 18 volunteer leaders on board and 11 small groups with an avg. of 10 students and 2 leaders per group.
Our leaders strive to share the Word of God and their lives with students according to 1Thess 2:8: |
“We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.”
We threw an outreach party on Wed, Oct. 31 called Jack’s Smash. Our students’ ticket into the event was a friend. We had over 20 new students attend, play tons of fun, messy games, and hear the gospel! |

At our fall retreat, Information Overload, students were exposed to all 66 books of the Bible with teaching and crazy skits all in one weekend, punctuated by a dramatic portrayal of Christ crucified. Ian Harber
(8th grade) blogs how it changed his life:
“I hate to say it, but before I wasn’t sure. I wasn’t sure if Christianity was real. I wasn’t sure if God was real. I wanted to believe it was, but I just wasn’t sure. I thought ‘if there is a God I want to be with him.’ |
But I just kept doubting if there was a God or not. And all that wasn’t too long ago. I’ve grown up in a Christian family, but that doesn’t mean I just get my faith from them. I have to believe. Well lately I’ve been seeing more and more evidence that God is real. I’ve been believing more and more that He is there around me. Fast forward to October 6, 2007. It’s like 10pm, and I’m at Information Overload. Brandon turns on the lights and Andy, Jason and Jason are all |
standing there like they’re on crosses. That’s when it hit me that this is legit. This stuff is real and I want to be apart of it. After that, Joe talked and we sat there and prayed. I couldn’t help but cry and I gave my life to God... for real, by myself, and I meant it. Pete and Brandon prayed for me and I knew this was it. I was at home. Before I wasn’t sure, I thought I had given my life to God but I didn’t’ know... now I know. I am with God 100% now.” |
| Personal Update |
Please pray for continued health for Kristin and our THIRD BABY! Kristin survived the 1st trimester and is powering through the second. Thankfully this has been a much easier pregnancy than the previous two. Baby number three is due in mid-May…just in time for finals—Ahh!
I love what I’ve been learning at Dallas Theological Seminary. It’s amazing to sit under such giants as Drs. Howard Hendricks, Dwight Pentecost, and Stanley Tousaint. I’ve never worked |
harder in my life. But I don’t mind it because of
the content. Probably my hardest and most rewarding course is Hebrew. To my surprise, it’s nothing like learning Spanish! It is a whole new world of squiggly lines and dots. But I can now translate a few of the simplest sentences from my Hebrew Bible into English! We were approved for a very clean and well-managed low-income apartment. We had our neighbors, an elderly couple named Lonnie and Lena, over for dinner and had a great time. Logan, who just celebrated his |
fourth birthday, and Ian,
who is two, love the playground and pool in walking distance. We love our new home!
As the Junior High Director at Denton Bible Church, there is a lot of work to do, but I have a hard time calling it “work.” I love my “job.” Working in ministry is so rewarding and I love all my coworkers. God is so good!
Please pray for God’s grace as I balance time for my devotional time, family, ministry, and school. |
